Oscar Smith, the founder of Biofuture, recently dedicated his time to support a community initiative organized by Tidy Up Sawbridgeworth. Alongside a committed group of volunteers, they successfully collected an impressive total of 38 bags of litter, with a significant portion being plastic waste.
This collaborative effort not only highlights the importance of community involvement in environmental stewardship but also underscores Biofuture's commitment to sustainability and reducing plastic pollution.
The event served as a reminder of the collective impact that individuals can make when they come together for a common cause, fostering a cleaner and healthier environment for all.

Plastic possesses a high strength-to-weight ratio, high moldability, impermeability to liquids, resistance to degradation, and low cost to produce. These same qualities have created a global threat, with unsustainable amounts of plastic being produced, creating climate changing emissions that will impact the population for generations.
To combat the impact of plastic, the sustainable packaging solutions created by the team at Biofuture are created with biobased plastics can be seamlessly integrated into existing recycling streams, supporting the development of a circular economy.
Oscar Smith, managing director of Biofuture, was pleased with the impact of the day:
“The ‘Tidy Up’ cause is very close to our hearts, and we believe in the power of community action. In a short amount of time, we collected an incredible amount of litter, primarily plastic. We want to develop local council collection capabilities alongside consumer disposal understanding, bringing people together to be part of the solution.
"At Biofuture, our projects are focused on environmental causes including One Tree Planted, a reforestation organisation. We are passionate about contributing to the environment and initiatives such as this help bring people together to make a difference.
“We want to be a force for good, restoring the natural charm to neglected environments for the benefit of local people and the ecosystem. If there are any other litter-picking organisations out there that could use some extra bags, please reach out as we would be more than happy to donate. As we proved that when we work together, we can make a real difference for our environment,” said Oscar.
